We quietly marked the milestone and continued with our daily fifteen-hour grind. We landed back in Johannesburg at the end of November, exhausted but hit the ground running catching up on business and prepared to wrap up the year.

The time invested in the MassChallenge programme was invaluable as it allowed us time to work on the business. We are therefore confident that as we start 2017, the learnings from the programme will start showing in the improved customer experience by each Livestock Wealth cattle investor.

Our goal for 2017 is to manage 10,000 cattle across 50 farms in South Africa, while maintaining a personal touch where we truly bridge the gap between your home and the farm. One of the major breakthroughs for us in London was developing the prototype wearable device for tracking and monitoring each cow remotely. The biggest win was figuring out how to cost-effectively connect the cow to the cloud and eventually to a cell phone or App. Through the MassChallenge programme, we received a lot of mentorship and guidance from our good friends at IBM. When fully deployed, the device enables us and the owner of the cow to tell whether the cow is still safely on the farm and to predict when the cow is falling ill, enabling us to take preventive action.
